Abstract

Digital transformation has emerged as a critical driver of economic growth and business competitiveness in the global economy. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), particularly in emerging economies, face increasing pressure to adopt digital technologies in order to survive and grow in highly competitive markets. This paper examines the impact of digital transformation on SMEs in emerging economies, focusing on operational efficiency, market expansion, innovation capability, and overall business performance. The study explores how digital tools such as e-commerce platforms, digital payments, cloud computing, and data analytics influence SME growth and sustainability. It also highlights key challenges faced by SMEs during digital adoption, including infrastructure limitations, skill gaps, financial constraints, and regulatory barriers. The paper concludes that digital transformation plays a pivotal role in enhancing SME competitiveness and economic development in emerging economies, provided that supportive policies and institutional frameworks are in place.
